If you think that the Arts are only for the elite, guess again. Arts Advocacy British Columbia is a new internet-based society that reflects and promotes the arts in the lives of ordinary people. If your kids have a rock band, if you sing in a local choir, if you are actor or audience for your community theatre group, if you enjoy reading, the Arts are an important part of your life. Did you attend your school’s Christmas Concert? Are you or your kids taking piano lessons? Do you dream of writing poetry or painting pictures? Do you visit your local library or art gallery? The Arts are an important part of your life.
Arts Advocacy British Columbia intends to help you communicate your interests to your neighbours throughout the province as well as to your elected officials. Simply go to
www.artsadvocacybc.com to find out what it’s all about and to purchase an inexpensive membership. Send us your ideas, your pictures, and your community arts news, we’ll keep our members informed.
There are 4.4 Million Reasons to Support the Arts, and you are one of them.
4.4 MILLION REASONS
“4.4 Million Reasons to Support the Arts” is the motto of a new society called Arts Advocacy British Columbia. The society aims to collect and spread stories about British Columbians’ experiences in the arts, whether as audience members, participants, or artists, to let our elected officials know that the arts are important in the lives of everyday people throughout the province. The society’s website
www.artsadvocacybc.ca carries information, ideas, and action alerts as well as a growing membership roster. The website will also salute achievements in the arts of individual communities as well as photos of people involved in all aspects of the arts. And, just in case you haven’t figured it out, there are 4.4 million people in B.C. and each one is certainly involved in the arts in some way.
