Volunteers are busy getting ready for the Gitmaxmak’ay Adult Elders Christmas Dinner that is taking place on Saturday night at 5pm at the Nisga’a Hall on 3rd Avenue in Prince Rupert. The hall is newly renovated and is now equipped with new tables, redone kitchen and has passed the Health Inspection. Everything is ready to go thanks to all the community help.
Volunteers include the following committees: Elders, Fundraiser’s, Cultural Dancer’s, and Youth Council. There was a really good turn-out of helpers today; the music was playing while everyone was busy wrapping presents, decorating the hall and generally having fun.
“Everyone gets to see each other before they all go their separate ways for the holidays, each year our turn-out gets better and better.” stated organizer Carol Doolan.
There was an excellent attendance last week for the Kid’s Christmas Party and the organizers are expecting the Youth Council Dinner next week to be even better than it was last year. The Youth Council Dinner will be held on Friday December 18th from 7pm to 10pm at the JVA Gaming Centre on Second Avenue across from the Moby Dick Hotel.
