The Special Committee to Review the Personal Information Protection Act has extended its deadline for public input until Friday,
Feb. 29, 2008.

The all-party committee was appointed in 2007 by the Legislative Assembly to review provincial legislation regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by private sector organizations.

Space is still available to make an oral presentation at the public hearing in Vancouver, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 22, 2008: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Segal Graduate School of Business, 500 Granville Street.

It is advisable for individuals or organizations to register in advance, by calling 250-356-2933 or toll-free in B.C.: 1-877-428-8337. Additional slots will be available at the hearing, on a first-come,
first-served basis.

"It is important that we hear from British Columbians with an interest in the Province's private sector privacy law," said committee convener Ron Cantelon, MLA. "All public input will be carefully considered in preparing the final report, which we must present to the Legislative
Assembly by April 19, 2008."
