VICTORIA -New occupational health and safety regulations that become effective July 26, 2007 set out employers' safety training
responsibilities for young and new workers.

To help employers understand and apply the new rules, the Employers' Advisers Office in the Ministry of Labour and Citizens' Services is
hosting a series of seminars for employers.

The training will cover the specific elements that must be covered in the safety orientation of new and youth workers, including working alone or in isolation, preventing violence in the workplace and training for specific hazards.

This training is intended for anyone who hires or trains new or young workers including: business owners, managers, supervisors, human resource professionals, safety coordinators and corporate trainers.
