VICTORIA - In response to the growing interest in the B.C. Ministry of Environment Arbor Vitae Awards, the nomination deadline has been extended to Saturday, June 23.

The extension will give British Columbians two additional weeks to nominate individuals whose hard work, dedication and commitment are helping the province to lead the world in sustainable environmental management.

Environment Minister Barry Penner encourages nominations for individuals who make a difference in one or more aspects of environmental protection and stewardship, either through hands-on work, or by educating the public and promoting the benefits of sound environmental practices. Their personal focus may be on any aspect or aspects of environmental protection and stewardship, such as environmental sustainability, climate change, habitat restoration, protection of species and ecosystems, and resource conservation.

For more information and nomination guidelines, please visit the Arbor Vitae Awards website at www.env.gov.bc.ca/mea Nomination forms and guidelines are also available at regional Ministry of Environment offices throughout the province.
