The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, will attend the Organization of American States (OAS) General Assembly in Panama City, Panama, from June 3 to June 5, 2007.



The General Assembly provides an opportunity for Canada to reaffirm its engagement in the hemisphere and to address key priorities, including the role of the OAS in promoting democratic governance. Foreign ministers meet each year at the General Assembly to discuss hemispheric issues.



In the context of the General Assembly, the Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with the OAS Secretary General and with key hemispheric partners.
