• NH called a Code Orange at 10:52 pm on Friday, January 20, 2012 extending from Prince George to Smithers. NH mobilized physicians, staff and supplies through the hwy 16 corridor up to and including UHNBC and Smithers.

• NH treated or continues to treat 19 patients with injuries that range from minor to critical and includes some with severe burns.

• 2 patients were immediately transferred to VGH in Vancouver and 2 patients were immediately transferred to Edmonton.

• 8 patients were sent to UHNBC in Prince George.

• 1 patient was sent to St. John Hospital in Vanderhoof.

• 2 patients were sent to Bulkley Valley Hospital in Smithers.

• The Code Orange was downgraded on Saturday morning.• 7 patients remained at UHNBC in Prince George and 1 was transferred to VGH in Vancouver.

• 1 patient remained at St. John Hospital in Vanderhoof.

• 1 patient was sent to Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria and the other patient was released from Bulkley Valley Hospital in Smithers.

• Today, 1 patient, who is in stable condition, was accepted for transferred from UHNBC in Prince George to VGH in Vancouver. The transfer will take place tomorrow due to weather conditions. Another 3 patients remain in stable condition in Prince George and 3 patients were released from UHNBC today.

• 1 patient is in stable condition at St. John hospital in Vanderhoof.

• Total number of patients still in NH care is 5 (including the patient waiting to be transferred).

• In total 3 patients have been transferred to VGH in Vancouver (will increase to 4 on Monday after the patient is transferred from UHNBC to VGH), 2 patients have been transferred to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, and 1 patient has been transferred to Royal Jubilee in Victoria. These hospitals, or their respective Health Authority, will be able to provide status updates on patients in their facilities.

• Northern Health extends a vote of thanks to everyone, including physicians, nurses and emergency responders who worked tirelessly in response to this incident.

• Northern Health passes on our sympathy to family, friends, the community of Burns Lake, and the First Nations communities affected by this tragedy.
