The Prince Rupert and Port Edward Economic Development Corporation (PREDC) is pleased to announce the launch of www.investnorthwestbc.ca.

The website, a partnership between numerous economic agencies,provides detailed information on over $15 billion of planned projects and investment opportunities in Northwest BC to help market the region around the world to investors.

“Premier Christy Clark recently stated BCs northwest will be the backbone of the provincial economy,” says PREDC Economic Development Officer Derek Baker “The over 15 billion dollars worth of projects that are
featured on this site validates the Premiers comments and will support further interest and investment in our region.”

The site includes project information on a number of local projects worth over $3.6 billion including; the Fairview Container Terminal Expansion expected to begin construction in 2012, the already underway Ridley Terminal Expansion, the recently announced Rail Road and Utility Corridor and a state of the art Wood Pellet Export Terminal.

“It’s encouraging to see the number and value of transportation related projects proposed throughout the North Coast,” said Mayor Jack Mussallem. “It demonstrates our ability to reach markets faster, safer and more efficiently than any other ports on the Pacific Coast due to our proximity to Asia. This type of collaboration between each community’s economic development offices is a step in the right direction for working together to promote and grow our region.”

Beyond project details the site also features information on a number of incentive programs, community profiles, detailed information on the Asia Pacific Gateway and the Northern Corridor, featured investment opportunities and contact information for each municipal economic development office.
