Re: Feds rebuff $8.3 million in spending by U.S. green trust, Sept 9.

The withdrawal of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) from the Pacific North Coast Integrated Management Area (PNCIMA) process on B.C.'s central coast is cause for concern to anyone who wants to see real progress toward sustainable marine use.

This decision, undoubtedly forced downhill by the Harper government, is another blatant example of this government treating science as a convenience.

If the conclusions of an amateur policy analyst such as Vivian Krause are given more weight by Ottawa than the volumes of research published on ecosystem management by leading scientists, we are truly in deep, deep trouble.
