NEWS RELEASE · 8th September 2011
Citiy of PR
This morning at 6am it was determined that the wooden penstock that supplies water to Watson Island was ruptured by a landslide caused by the recent high rainfall.

By 3pm this afternoon the Municipality of Port Edward was supplying water to Watson Island via a temporary connection. A plan to create a more permanent connection to the Port Edward water system is being developed and it is expected to be implemented next week.

The City of Prince Rupert would like to thank both the staff of Port Edward and the staff of Prince Rupert for the rapid implementation of a solution to resolve this emergency situation.
