Don Ramsey, the Regional Director, Ministry of Transportation has just informed the public that Highway 16 will remain closed for the rest of the day today.

The rain yesterday impacted the site in such a manner that the material started to move again. When it was noticed moving, at 2:30PM, all they crews pulled back and the material slid from the 3000 foot level all the way down to the road again.

This will be a day to day situational problem and the weather will continue to affect the progress of the work.

Highway 16 Both Directions - Closed in both directions 37 kilometers east of Terrace because of Rock Slide. Clearing operations will re-commence at daylight subject to changing slide stability and weather conditions.
