CONTRIBUTION · 6th June 2011
Merv Ritchie w Mae Jong-Bowles
This Wednesday will be the first internationally recognized "World Oceans Day". The United Nations declared June 8th to be a day when the world pauses and considers the value of these waters. Conrad Elementary is holding a special event on Tuesday, June 7.

A song was written prior to this declaration and has been donated for communities and classrooms, choirs and individuals to sing. Some are going to sing it ahead of time.

There is an effort to tally up the number of people participating in this spectacular effort.

Mae Jong-Bowles of Conrad Elementary sent us this note;

Hello All,

Tuesday June 7 (1:30 pm) is going to be a perfect sunny day. What a way to show our appreciation for our OCEAN! You can sing the song at this website: www.songfortheocean.com

If you are unable to come due to prior commitments, sing the song in your own time on this day or June 8th and send me the number of people involved (such as classes of students) and I will add you to the count that I will be sending to Kristin Hoffmann.

High school student, Morgan Weir, will be leading the students and our community in the singing. Thank you Morgan.
