Northern Health has lifted the visiting restriction at Kitimat Hospital due to a recent outbreak of a gastrointestinal illness. The restriction had been in place since last week.
Stomach illnesses have been very active in the community. Careful hand-washing with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds is an effective way to reduce the spread of disease. Visitors recovering from a stomach virus or other illness should also avoid seeing patients in the hospital to reduce the risk of transmitting an illness.
