Stolen Truck and ATV from Prince Rupert swiftly recovered near Fraser Lake
On Wednesday, November 17, 2010 just before 7:00 a.m., Prince Rupert RCMP responded to an attempted theft of a Dodge truck from the Coast hotel. The truck window was smashed to gain entry and the steering column was damaged. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.
About an hour later RCMP responded to a theft of Dodge pickup from 7th Avenue East. The passenger side window was smashed to gain entry into the vehicle. At around 1:00 pm, RCMP received a report of a theft of an ATV from the carport of a residence on Sloan Avenue that occured earlier in the day. Items from the vehicle stolen from 7th Avenue East were located at the scene of the theft on Sloan Avenue.
The vehicle and ATV were both recovered by RCMP in Fraser Lake just before noon on the same day. The two out of town males are currently in custody.
Lead investigator, Cst. Justin Hindson, received a thank you hug from one of the victims after he informed her that they had recovered the ATV.
“Vehicle theft is not common in Prince Rupert. One way to help protect your vehicle is to use anti-lock devices on your steering wheel and to make sure your vehicle alarms are working. Also, call in any suspicious activity in your community. Most criminals are caught by assistance from the public” states Crime Prevention officer Cst. Erin STEVENSON.
