NEWS RELEASE · 9th August 2010
Prince Rupert RCMP
On Saturday August 7, 2010 five Auxiliary members of the Prince Rupert RCMP organized and put on a free bike rodeo for the community.
It was a cool rainy morning, but the Auxiliary members and other volunteers were out in full force, full of enthusiasm and coffee. The bike rodeo featured six stations that included bike and helmet fitting, braking, driveway awareness, intersections and bike handling skills.
Youth from ages three to nine participated in the rodeo which was followed by a family fun ride and barbecue organized by BC Ambulance. Funds raised from the barbecue went to Cops for Cancer. The Prince Rupert Auxiliary are hoping to put on another bike rodeo in the fall to help educate youth on bike and road safety.
