NEWS RELEASE · 9th August 2010
Prince Rupert RCMP
At approximately 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 a Ford Taurus collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle on McBride Street in Prince Rupert, BC. The Ford Taurus was driven by a 48-year-old male and had four passengers in the vehicle. The motorcycle was driven by a 36-year-old male who sustained minor scraps on his arms, but was transported to Prince Rupert Regional Hospital to test for any internal injuries.
The motorcycle was traveling Eastbound on McBride Street and saw the Taurus pulling out of the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre parking lot turning Westbound onto McBride Street. Skid marks on the road indicate the motorcycle driver tried to stop, but was unsuccessful. The motorcycle driver ended up under the passenger side front wheel of the Taurus.
The driver of the Taurus was given a violation ticket for failing to yield after a stop. Prince Rupert RCMP is reminding drivers that there are more motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians on roadways during the Summer months and to make sure intersections are clear before entering them.
