FORT ST. JOHN - The Coroner's inquest into the death of Christopher Jickels has been scheduled. Mr. Jickels became unresponsive while in a cell at the Fort St. John RCMP Detachment on Sept. 27, 2006. He was taken to Fort St. John Hospital where, despite medical treatment, he died.

The inquest is scheduled for Sept. 25-27, 2007. Presiding coroner Tonia Grace and a five-person jury will publicly hear evidence from subpoenaed witnesses in order to determine the facts surrounding the death. The jury will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances in the future.
