Three new highway web cameras on Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Island) and on Vancouver Island have been added to the DriveBC website to let drivers see current road and weather conditions before travelling, announced Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Shirley Bond.
"With these new webcams, motorists are better informed of weather and road conditions and are able to make safe travel plans," said Bond. "These additional webcams are part of the network of over 150 highway cameras now operational provincewide."
The two new highway web cams on Haida Gwaii are located on Highway 16. One camera is near Masset
CLICK HERE TO SEE and the other is providing images from the Skidegate area
CLICK HERE TO SEE. The third new highway webcam is mounted and transmitting visual information from the Roberts Lake area of Highway 19, about 30 kilometres northeast of Campbell River on Vancouver Island.
DriveBC also provides travel advisories, road closure information, weather information and other important links. The webcams are available at
www.drivebc.ca and travellers can also call the toll-free DriveBC line (1 800 550-HWYS (4997).
The DriveBC webcams complement the enhanced HelloBC website, which offers interactive options for maps to help visitors enjoy B.C.'s scenic driving routes. The interactive maps are available at HelloBC.com.
