SMITHERS – Public libraries throughout the riding will each receive a copy of the Al Gore global warming film An Inconvenient Truth from Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen.
Cullen presented a DVD of the film to Smithers Public Library board chair Boyd Brown today. Copies have also been mailed to the other fourteen public libraries in the riding.
“People came out by the hundreds to see this film when we showed it during global warming forums around the riding this winter and spring,” Cullen said. “The overwhelming interest made it clear there is a crucial need to create even more public accessibility to this important film.”
Cullen called public libraries one of the best vehicles for information-sharing and said he is confident the global warming film will be a useful addition to northwest library collections.
An Inconvenient Truth offers a striking look at global warming's deadly progress by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it. The film ultimately demonstrates the persuasive argument that we can no longer afford to view global warming as a political issue, rather, it is the biggest moral challenge facing our generation.
Editors note: This film should be seen! It is also available at your local movie outlets. We suggest watching the action thriller The Day After Tomorrow after you watch An Inconvenient Truth.
